Are you an experienced business development professional with a passion for the stone and tile industry? Do you have a network of contacts with architects and builders and want to play a pivotal role in driving the growth of an established supplier? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.


The Company

Our client is an established supplier of stone, tile, and porcelain products. They’ve built a reputation for providing high-quality products sourced globally, including from Italy, Turkey, and China. As they expand into the medium density to high-end market, they are looking to bring on board a Business Development Manager to help drive their growth and establish their products in key projects.


The company operates out of a newly established showroom and has ambitious plans for expansion. They blend state-of-the-art, modern technology with traditional methods of sculpting and stone cutting, with top-tier procurement and quality-control.


The Role

This newly created role will primarily focus on business development, with the main objective of building relationships with architects and getting the client’s products specified in projects. You will work closely with the internal team, convert specifications into sales, and play a key part in growing the company’s presence in the medium to high-end residential market in Melbourne.


You will be representing the company’s product portfolio, which includes a variety of stone, porcelain, and sintered stone products, while focusing on building rapport and maintaining relationships with architects, builders, and developers.


As you will be the first BDM for the business, this is an opportunity to get in from ground level and grow exponentially alongside the business itself.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with architects, designers, and developers across Melbourne.
  • Get the client’s products specified in key residential and commercial projects.
  • Convert specifications into sales, contributing to the growth of the business.
  • Work closely with the management team, representing the company’s range of imported stone and tile products.
  • Assist in the promotion and sales of the product portfolio to a variety of stakeholders within the A&D sector and beyond.
  • Build a strategic business development plan, identifying and targeting opportunities to increase market share.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in business development, ideally within the stone, tile, or construction industry.
  • Established network and strong relationships with architects, builders, developers, and key industry players.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convert leads into sales.
  • Knowledge of stone, porcelain, and sintered stone products is a plus, but not essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with a small, dynamic team.
  • Willingness to travel to meet clients and attend site visits, with flexibility for some work-from-home days.
