About Us

The founding of Specify Consulting

Specify Consulting was established in October 2021 by Adam Barwell and Chris Gath, the two Directors of the company. Their paths crossed in 2018 when they worked closely together for several years placing professionals within the industry. Having worked collectively for 15 years directly within the Australian Building Products & Design sector, Adam and Chris realised there was a gap in the market for a specialist recruitment consultancy that solely focused on the industry. Specify was born out of their desire to create something of their own that made a difference to the Australian Building Products & Design landscape. They are passionate about bettering the industry and care about the clients and candidates that they work with.

A bit about the founders

Adam and Chris are Englishmen by birth who now call Australia their home and are both proud citizens of the country! They enjoy the beach lifestyle with Adam living in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Chris in Maroubra Beach. The Specify head office is located in Sydney CBD where they recruit nation-wide for Sales, Technical and Marketing positions in Australia’s Building and Design industry. They possess a strong network in each major city in Australia.

What inspires Specify

Specify views trust, transparency and authenticity as essential qualities in the recruitment sector. By adhering to their core values, they have gained trust, respect and momentum in the Australian Building and Design industry. The team take a long-term view with every client and candidate they speak which in turn has generated a strong referral and repeat business model.
